Yoshida Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Sakyo-ku. It was founded by the Fujiwara clan in 859. This shrine became the object of Imperial patronage during the early Heian period. Under the rule of Emperor Murakami, Imperial messengers were sent here to report important events to the guardian kami of Japan.
